The maestro – Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman envisioned himself in 1969 to shape the leading business conglomerate in Bangladesh, is now the well-known PHP Family. With satisfactory responses from the buyers, PHP Automobiles Limited – the country’s first private automobile assembling organization in Chattogram, has planned to spread its services across the country.

To get the plan implemented, the organization is going to set up its showroom and develop other facilities in the capital by January of 2019. Later, the service will be taken to Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi, Bogura and other city’s gradually.

The Managing Director Mohammed Akther Parvez shared his plans regarding PHP Automobiles Ltd. He is also MD of the PHP Motors, a sister concern of the country’s business conglomerate PHP Family.

Narrating the story behind the journey, the MD said the current Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad, who was also chairman of Proton, arrived at a program of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) in the capital in 2015.

He (Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad) delivered speech at the program as special guest. The Proton chairman insisted and requested the PHP Family to get engage in automobile business and invited to visit the factory of Malaysian Proton cars.

“Following the request, we visited the factory and got interested into the new track,” said Mr Parvez.

PHPA realized that as some 20,000 to 22,000 sedan cars are being sold in the country every year, there is a room in the market while 90 percent of the imported vehicles are reconditioned.

PHPA also started dreaming that the trends of using the reconditioned cars should be changed as the countries, which are lagging behind, use the reconditioned Cars.

As per plan PHPA developed a factory on a 4.5 lakh square-feet area in the city’s Port Connecting Road and started full operation in March 2015.

The factory has a capacity of assembling 12 cars in a shift of eight hours. A total of 200 manpower including automobile engineers are working at the factory.

PHPA is now assembling five types of vehicles including sedan car – Proton Saga, Proton Preve and mid-size passenger vehicle (MPV) Proton Exora, Proton X70, Proton Persona in the factory. We are also producing motorcycles of different types with production of 64 parts including chassis among the total 1,200 items.

To ensure services the PHP Automobiles Ltd developed service centre in the port city Chattogram and have linked with Rahim Afroz to provide service all over Bangladesh.

Our showroom is the first 4S showroom (Sales, Service, Spare Parts and Resale) in Chattogram. PHPA also buy the used Proton at the will of customers on condition of buying a new one.
